General HID Relay Harness Instructions
(A diagram is pictured at the bottom of this page)
1) Preparation
| Recommended Tools:
|
Optional Tools:
|
2) Installation
| Step 1: | Unplug and remove your old halogen bulbs, on both sides of the vehicle.
Keep them as spares. |
|
| Step 2: | With your new HID bulbs, remove the plastic
covering. Note: Some bulbs, such as 880's and H11's, will require you to remove the bulb gasket before you can remove the plastic capsule holding ring. (Often a thin piece of circular plastic at the base of the bulb.) For proper fitment, reinstall the bulb gasket so that it is in the same position as the original halogen bulbs. Not doing so will lead to improper bulb fitment. |
|
| Step 3: | Install each HID bulb into your headlight socket. Twist-in-style bulbs: 9008, 9006, 9005, 880/890, H13,
H11, H10 H9, H8; twist into the Additional Notes: |
|
| Step 4: |
Place the provided wiring harness near your cars battery. Take the heavy black wire from the wiring harness and bolt it to any ground. Note: Some of the relay harnesses we have received,
have separate ground wires on each of the ballast plugs. Simply find a
unique ground for each ground wire. |
|
| Step 5: | Locate a spot on your car where you can install the ballasts. The ballast needs to be able to reach not only the plugs from the HID bulbs, but also the plugs from the wiring harness. Where possible, use an existing bolt hole to mount the ballasts. Additional securing of the ballasts may also be done through the use of zip ties and / or double-sided tape. Recommendation:

|
| Step 6: | With your ballasts mounted, plug your HID bulbs into the
ballast plugs. |

| Step 7: | With the wiring harness, plug in the ballast. Use the longest
wire to connect the ballast furthest away. The plug connects to the ballast
where there is a little tab that looks like a ramp. Remember that the retaining
clip on the plug, should be facing outwards. |

| Step 8: | With the heavy red wire from the harness, connect it to the
positive post on your battery. |
|
| Step 9: | With the wiring harness, use the last unused plug, to
plug into the your factory headlight harness. Only one of your factory
headlight sockets will be used. With the other unused connection, wrap
it in electrical tape to keep dirty and water out of the socket.
|
|
| Step 10: |
Double check all of your connections, make sure they are
nice and tight. Triple check to make sure you have a good ground. Once
that is done, turn on your headlights and enjoy. Recommendation:
