9006 / 9005 HID Plug-and-Play Harness Instructions
(A diagram is pictured at the bottom of this page)

1) Preparation

 

Recommended Tools:

  • Wrench or ratchet set
  • Philips screwdriver

Optional Tools:

  • Additional zip ties
  • Double-sided tape

2) Installation

Step 1: Unplug and remove your old halogen bulbs, on both sides of the vehicle. Keep them as spares.

  
Step 2: With your new HID bulbs, remove the plastic covering.

  
Step 3:

Install each HID bulb into your headlight socket.

Twist-in-style bulbs: 9008, 9006, 9005, 880/890, H13, H11, H10 H9, H8; twist into the
housing to lock.

Additional Notes:
9006/9005 Note: That some bulbs, such as 9006 and 9005's, may have a thicker o-ring gasket. Simply reuse the o-ring from the original halogen bulbs.

  
Step 4:

Locate a spot on your car where you can install the ballasts. The ballast needs to be able to reach not only the plugs from the HID bulbs, but also the plugs from the wiring harness.

Where possible, use an existing bolt hole to mount the ballasts. Additional securing of the ballasts may also be done through the use of zip ties and / or double-sided tape.

Recommendation:

  • Leave some slack in between the wires so that none of them are pulled tight.
  • Refrain from over-twisting any wires.
  • Where possible, lay the ballasts so that the plugs are facing sideways or towards the bottom.
  
Step 5: With your ballasts mounted, plug your HID bulbs into the ballast plugs.
Step 6: With the wiring harness, plug in the ballast. Use the longest wire to connect the ballast furthest away. The plug connects to the ballast where there is a little tab that looks like a ramp. Remember that the retaining clip on the plug, should be facing outwards.

Note: Please note that the ballast plug, is inserted “backwards” on most 9006 applications. The retaining clip on the plug will be facing on the “inside,” locking onto the square block. If the lights do not turn on, simply reverse the plug that is inserted into the ballast.
Step 7:

With the Plug-and-Play wiring harness, use the last unused plug, to plug into the your factory headlight harness.

Step 8:

Double check all of your connections, make sure they are nice and tight. Once that is done, turn on your headlights and enjoy.

Recommendation:

  • If you are over cautious about water or corrossion, apply dielectric grease on all connections. This will go a long ways towards preventing corrossion related problems.
    • Dielectric grease can be found at any auto parts store. Same stuff they sell you when you're trying to buy spark plugs.
